Tigers ripped Eagles; NU bows to DLSU

It was the rematch of the season 69 finals which turned out to be a rollercoaster match, but in the end the defending champions managed to take down its prey.

As round 1 nearly reaches its end, the Tigers and Eagles are now tied in third place in the tally board with 4-3.

The game was tight until the 4th quarter where the Eagles lost their touch and momentum missing most of perimeter and charity shots.

UST’s prized rookie Kashim Mirza delivered a career high of 25 points while main man Jervy Cruz ended the game in another double-double play with 19 points and 21 rebounds.

In the other game, the Archers outlast the Bulldogs 85-81 to secure the second spot in the end of the first round.

SMC-RP attains 9th place in FIBA-Asia

Though team Pilipinas failed to get the Olympic basketball dream for the country, that didn’t stop to continue playing their hearts out as they managed to get straight victories to win the consolation round of the FIBA-Asia tournament beating the national team of China 78-76 to capture the 9th place.

Danny Seigle led the team exploding with 20 points while Kelly Williams gave another impressive performance with 14 points.

As said, winning the 9th place is a great consolation for team Pilipinas, still nursing the fresh wound of losing the Olympic chance in the preliminaries.

The team learned a lot from the tournament. They should use their mistakes so that the in the next Olympic qualifiers they could have better chances of winning. And we hopefully change the rules in PBA so that Filipino cagers would be more familiar with the International rules.

Team is set to return on Monday.
